ToggleCrafting with children not only spreads holiday cheer but actually weaves together moments in time that will warm your heart for years to come. Most are like me, struggling to come across crafts that would appeal to children of many ages.
Well, fear no more, for I am here to share with you my box of sweet treasure of craft ideas that children of every age will be sure to enjoy. Call it my little early Christmas gift to your family from mine.
Bead Garlands: A Colorful Adventure
One of my very favorite Christmas crafts involves making bead garlands. These colorful masterpieces are sure to delight children of all ages as they fill your home with a rainbow of color. To get started with this art project, you will want to have some heavy string or plastic cord, a colorful assortment of beads-just think reds, greens, golds, and silvers, let your creativity run wild, aided only by a trusty pair of shears and adhesive magic to hold the thing together.
Cut a piece of string to the length you might want for your garland to drape across the tree, mantle, or even a window. The first bead threaded onto the string gets tied in with a knot and secured with a dab of glue to keep it from slipping away.
With every added bead, see your creation come alive, and let your children’s imagination become unblocked with all mix-and-match designs. When finally reaching the end, tie off the last bead and give it that extra bit of love with glue. You will have very few paralleled moments of joy hanging these beaming garlands around your home, and I promise screams of delight will fill the air when your kids see their handiwork displayed.
Pine Cone Ornaments: Nature’s Beauty
Next up on our crafting journey is the quintessential pine cone ornaments. These enchanting ornaments are perfect for children of all ages, from toddlers to seniors, and carry the charm of nature into your holiday decor. First, collect a few pine cones during those family walks-the magical charm of collecting them during the crisp winter air and the crunch of leaves beneath your feet is just a part of the fun.
Once you have gathered a few, it’s time to give them that festive touch! Splatter them with sparkling silver or gold paint and sprinkle them heavy with glitter to make them twinkle like the stars. Let your work dry in a safe spot, maybe on a cozy table next to a window, and when they are ready, it’s time to get inventive.
Just tie a bright ribbon around the top, and you have a beautiful hanging ornament to add rustic charm to your Christmas tree. Year after year, these pine cone treasures will remind you of fond memories as they sparkle in the holiday light.
Bell Ornaments: Joyful Sounds of Christmas
Ah, and who could forget making bell ornaments? These adorable things aren’t only cute but bear that merry ring of jingle bells, adding more melody to your festivities! For this, I really like to get small terra cotta pots, just perfect for your kid’s artwork.
Let your kids paint their pots in rich, festive green. Once they are entirely dry, allow them to add glitter glue and faux gems to the pots. Little diamonds twinkling in the clay! Now it is time for the fun part-threading a little bell onto colorful ribbon. Thread the ribbon through the drainage hole of the pot and tie in a knot to secure in place.
Allow your young artists to personalize their ornaments by adding things that show their imagination. The sparkle in their eyes as they will hang their handiwork will suffice for any amount of heat that your heart may need on a cold winter’s night.
It is one of the best ways to bond with the kids during the holiday season through crafting, and for sure, these holiday projects will fill your home with laughter and fun. Break out the supplies, light the holiday spirit, and plunge into this magical world of Christmas crafts.
