Craft Glue Tips

Craft glue tips abound on the Internet. They are scattered about like little pieces of diamond dust. And who knows if any of them will help you out in crafting your next project? You bet they do. But, before we go into any craft glue tips, let’s go over what glue is and why it’s important to have a craft glue gun.

Glue is the term used to describe a number of chemical adhesives that are used to join two pieces of similar size, consistency, and shape together. The glue is usually either water or oil-based and may be monomer-based glue or thermo-formed glue. In addition, there are a variety of different adhesives glues like ‘snap glue’ and ‘acetone glue’. Adhesives glues may be made from a variety of materials like glue sticks, adhesives powder, sponges, paper clips, dental floss, and even fabric. They are primarily used in crafts and hobbies where joining and bonding two objects of differing shapes and sizes is required.

A craft glue gun is a tool or appliance that helps to bond materials together by allowing the user to apply hot glue easily and evenly on the target surface. To use the craft glue gun, one needs to first wet down the material before starting the application process. Next, place the object that you want to bond together using a craft glue gun. Then, fire the gun at high speed until hot glue is applied uniformly on the material.

If you are looking for a more precise result, you may want to consider using ‘dry clear’ glue. ‘Dry clear’ glue comes in both powder and liquid forms. It is recommended to use dry clear glue as it dries very fast and its glue has a more intense glue bond than other glues. There are a wide variety of ‘dry clear’ glues available in the market today, such as ‘Glowstick’ glue, ‘Gold Cup’ glue and ‘Mylar’ glue etc. Some of the commonly used dry clear glues are ‘ceryone’ glue, ‘Bond’ glue and ‘Acrylate’ glue.

Another commonly used household glue that is widely used by the people is ‘cloth additives’ such as’selp’ oil and ‘dichroic’ powder. Cloth additives provide extra-strong glue, while still maintaining the sheen of the fabric. Some of these cloths include ‘selp’ oil, ‘dichroic’ powder, ‘cocoban’ powder, ‘ammonia’ powder etc.

Foam Board is a popular choice of glue when decorating. The foaming action of foam board provides a good bond when using a glue stick or spray. To apply the foam board, you need to first wet the piece with water then dip the stick or spray into hot glue. This will soften the glue and at the same time, it will also create a ‘paste-like’ substance on the board which makes it a good adhesive to use.
